While advisory firms continue to get snapped up at a frenzied pace after setting all-time M&A records for the past two years, the torrent of investment interest in registered investment advisor firms is also evident in the rush to buy minority stakes in them.

Minority stake transactions as a percentage of total deals more than doubled last year to 12%, from 5% in 2019, according to DeVoe & Co., a San Francisco-based RIA consultancy, research, and investment banking firm.
