Stock market update: FMCG stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed higher in the Wednesday’s session.

Hind.Foods(up 9.68%), Varun Beverages(up 4.59%), Prataap Snacks(up 2.51%), Umang Dairies(up 2.40%), P & G Hygiene(up 2.36%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories(up 1.44%), Zydus Wellness(up 1.24%), Parag Milk(up 1.09%), Godrej Consumer Products(up 1.08%) and Heritage Foods(up 0.91%) stood among the top gainers.

DFM Foods(down 2.65%), Euro India Fresh Foods(down 2.40%), ADF Foods(down 1.30%), Britannia Industries(down 1.15%), Dabur India(down 0.86%), Dangee Dums(down 0.85%), Future Consumer(down 0.63%), Jyothy Labs(down 0.53%), Vadilal Industries(down 0.51%) and Gillette India(down 0.46%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 156.6 points up at 18212.35, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 533.15 points at 61150.04.

Mahindra & Mahindra(up 4.65%), Bharti Airtel(up 3.8%), Reliance Industries(up 2.67%), IndusInd Bank(up 2.57%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 2.49%), Hindalco Industries(up 2.39%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 2.29%), JSW Steel(up 1.76%), ICICI Bank(up 1.62%) and Tata Steel(up 1.5%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Titan Company Ltd(down 1.52%), Tata Consultancy(down 1.43%), Shree Cement(down 1.19%), Britannia Industries(down 1.15%), Cipla(down 1.06%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 0.63%), HDFC Bank(down 0.59%), Divis Laboratories(down 0.52%), Wipro(down 0.4%) and Tech Mahindra(down 0.39%) closed in the red.
