LGT Wealth Management is opening its first office in Scotland.
John Godfrey, formerly regional centre head and senior investment director at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management, has been appointed to head up the new base in Edinburgh.
He brings more than 24 years of experience in the wealth management industry and will now lead the firm’s fourth UK office.
LGT Wealth Management has been working with financial advisers and professional intermediaries in Scotland for a number of years, strengthened by the local appointment of Lynsey Carson as business development director in 2017.
The firm now plans to grow the team locally, while offering portfolio management, international and specialist client services.
Andrew Davies, partner and head of regional development at LGT Wealth Management, said: “As the business continues to grow, we recognise the importance of having a physical presence across the different regions.
“Scotland is an important area for us – we have a number of clients in the region already – and opening an office in Edinburgh will enable us to provide a better service and support to this market.”
Godfrey added: “With many Scottish-based clients already, I am excited to help build and grow an experienced, skilled and highly personable team.”
LGT Wealth Management’s first regional office was launched in Bristol during 2016. It now employs 419 staff in London, Bristol, Edinburgh and Jersey.
The firm is part of LGT Group, a private banking and asset management group controlled by the Liechtenstein Princely Family for more than 80 years.
