I am 32 years old. My risk appetite is aggressive. I want to create a corpus of Rs 1 crore for my child’s education, who is 2 months old, after 18 years. I am investing in the following mutual funds via monthly SIP.
Axis Small Cap Fund: Rs 5,000
Equity Focused Fund: Rs 5,000
SBI Small Cap Fund: Rs 5,000
Mahindra Manu Life Badhat Yojna: Rs 2,500
I started these SIPs four months ago. Will i be able to reach my goal

First, a nice round figure like Rs 1 crore might appear very large now. But it will lose its value after 18 years because of the impact of inflation. So it is always better to work with real numbers. Find out the cost of higher education. Then work out how much you need to invest every month to achieve the target corpus. Assuming an annual return of 12%, you need to invest around Rs 13,000 every month to create a corpus of Rs 1 crore in 18 years.

You have invested in two small cap funds. These schemes are highly risky and volatile. You may also see prolonged periods of losses or underperformance. Be prepared for them and continue with your investments.
